To help consumers make well-informed choices for a healthy and well-balanced diet, we apply rules and objectives for clear, honest and transparent marketing communications and nutritional information to consumers.

The FrieslandCampina Corporate Standard for Responsible Marketing Communications contains global rules for marketing communications targeted at adults and children. These rules are based on, amongst others, the code of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). We actively monitor and report our progression.

Claims that are made on our brands and branded products should be truthful and meaningful. The objective of the FrieslandCampina Corporate Standard on Claims is to set a global framework for all claims that are used, in order to support the positive positioning of FrieslandCampina, its brands and branded products. In the Standard the general principles to which claims need to comply, are laid down.

EU Pledge compliance

FrieslandCampina is a long-standing signatory of the EU Pledge, a voluntary initiative by leading food and beverage companies to improve advertising practices directed at children under the age of twelve in the European Union. This commitment ensures that our marketing supports well-informed, nutritious choices and adheres to high standards of responsible communication.

As part of the pledge, FrieslandCampina conducts annual independent compliance audits by third-party organisations covering our TV advertising, social media, brand websites and influencer marketing.

High compliance across channels

The results from 2020–2025 show consistently high compliance across most channels. Our TV advertising has remained above 99 percent throughout this period, and branded websites have sustained 100 percent compliance since auditing began. In 2023, we recorded a temporary drop in social media and influencer marketing compliance due to the adoption of the more stringent International Chamber of Commerce Framework for Responsible Food and Beverage Marketing Communications. We addressed this immediately through internal trainings and stricter influencer selection, resulting in clear improvements in 2024.

EU Pledge Monitoring Report

The EU Pledge is a voluntary initiative launched by leading food and beverage companies to change food and beverage advertising to children under the age of twelve in the European Union. The self-regulatory approach of the EU Pledge is in line with the EU Strategy on Nutrition, overweight and obesity-related health conditions, as well as the EU Audiovisual Media Services Directive.
