New top structure FrieslandCampina

FrieslandCampina intends to reshape its top structure, taking an important step to improve business performance. The change follows the appointment of Jan Derck van Karnebeek as CEO per 1 June 2023. The business will be divided in seven business groups and will be led by an Executive Team.

Jan Derck van Karnebeek, CEO Royal FrieslandCampina N.V.: “FrieslandCampina is well-positioned with its rich history, strong reputation, engaged employees, meaningful purpose and in-depth dairy knowledge and expertise. Furthermore, FrieslandCampina has a diversified business, product and customer portfolio, which enables it to spread its risks well and as a result, among other things, offer its member dairy farmers a leading milk price. The company's profitability is under pressure. Therefore, in the coming period, we will take the necessary steps to improve profitability. The first step is to reshape our top structure and announce the corresponding appointments. I am confident that with this new leadership team in place, we will fulfil FrieslandCampina's purpose of providing better nutrition for the world, a good living for our farmers, now and for generations to come.”

Executive Team

The company will be led by an Executive Team.

Seven business groups

The intended split-up of the current Food & Beverage business group into five separate business groups, each with their own characteristics - Europe; Retail & Americas; Middle East, Pakistan & Africa; Asia; and Professional - with effect from 1 January 2024, captures the diversified nature of the business portfolio and the different ‘go-to-market’ strategies required. The business group Professional and the business unit Trading will both come under the leadership of one president. The current business groups Ingredients and Specialised Nutrition remain unchanged.

Next steps

The proposed Executive Team appointments will take effect on 1 October and the implementation of a new organisational structure, including the seven business groups, is scheduled to commence on 1 January 2024. Roel van Neerbos will remain member of the Executive Team as President Food & Beverage until 1 November 2023.

All proposed decisions are pending advice from the Central Works Council. More clarity on the sharpened strategic direction of the company, named Expedition 2030, will be provided on 6 October 2023. Further details on organisational implications will be announced in the coming period.
