FrieslandCampina starts solar panel project for smaller solar roofs

More and more FrieslandCampina member dairy farmers are energy suppliers as well. Over 3,300 member dairy farms are working together with FrieslandCampina on the transition towards green energy. At most of these farms energy is generated with solar panels on large roof surfaces. In order to further accelerate this energy transition, FrieslandCampina starts a solar panel project focused on smaller solar roofs in cooperation with Zelfstroom.

With the new cooperation FrieslandCampina wants to help member dairy farmers who want to get to work with solar panels. This includes those dairy farmers who presently are unable to establish a large solar roof because of limited capacity on the electricity network or other business-specific reasons.

Increase sustainability together

The use of energy generated in a sustainable way contributes to climate improvement. This is one of the priorities of the ‘Nourishing a better planet’ sustainability programme. In order to achieve this, FrieslandCampina is working together with its member dairy farmers and offers various programmes to start generating sustainable energy. Here different requirements and business-specific situations of member dairy farms are taken into account. With programmes focused on solar energy, wind energy and manure fermentation, FrieslandCampina accelerates the generation of sustainable energy at the farms and with this makes a contribution to the green energy transition.
