FrieslandCampina recognised again for commitment to better nutrition

FrieslandCampina has moved up to a third position in the 2021 Global Access To Nutrition Index. Every two years, the index judges the largest food producers in the world to test them for their social responsibility with respect to malnutrition and obesity.

Hein Schumacher, CEO FrieslandCampina: “We are committed to make better nutrition, affordable, available and applicable for a growing world population. Particularly to those in need who are deprived of income or live in countries in which food certainty is not a given: everyone should have access to better nutrition. That’s what we stand for. We are pleased this is recognised in the Access to Nutrition Index and that we improved our position.”

Better nutrition, affordable for everyone is a priority

FrieslandCampina wants to provide healthy and sustainable nutrition to all people, at all ages, now and in the future. And combat malnutrition. That’s why this is an important index for the company. With ‘Better nutrition, affordable for everyone’ as one of the priorities of FrieslandCampina’s sustainability programme, we are clear about our ambitions. This priority consists of two key components. One is about continuously improving our consumer products portfolio by reducing sugar, fat and salt while maintaining good taste and texture. This increased from 57% in 2015 to 75% in 2020. The other is about doubling the amount of products that offer good nutrition with relevant nutrients for large lower income populations, like in Nigeria, Ivory Coast and Indonesia.
