Better living for farmers

Better living for farmers is one of the priorities of our sustainability programme Nourishing a better planet. The cooperative was established to create a better living for farmers. Our member dairy farmers play an important role in feeding the growing world population with good nutrition. We aim to deliver the best milk worldwide that is produced as sustainably as possible. This can only be achieved if farmers have a good revenue model.

Although our member dairy farmers are eager to work more sustainably, they do not always have the funds for this. That is why we are happy to lend a hand. We support and encourage them in our Foqus planet sustainable development programme. This is a quality and sustainability programme in which we ensure a minimum level of quality and sustainability and encourage member dairy farmers to improve on sustainable farming by receiving a bonus based on the results of their efforts in the areas of climate, biodiversity and animal health and animal welfare.

Did you know that our member dairy farmers are co-owners of the company through the cooperative? All of our member dairy farmers are members of Zuivelcoöperatie FrieslandCampina U.A. This cooperative owns 100% of the company Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. and therefore has a say in important decisions of the company. The company is responsible for processing the milk, manufacturing dairy products and selling these products. This means that our member dairy farmers are also supervisors of the company through the cooperative.
