Better Nature

We are working on creating a more sustainable future for everyone. Improving biodiversity for a nature is important for us. Better nutrition should be produced in balance with nature, which is something that we are focussing on currently. Together with our member farmers, we are on a journey to make a positive biodiversity impact.

Improving biodiversity

Better nature is one of the priorities of our sustainability programme Nourishing a better planet. We are already measuring improvements in biodiversity for each individual farm using our Biodiversity Monitor. We want to have a net positive biodiversity impact at the cooperative’s dairy farms by 2050. 80 percent of member dairy farms operate with active nature and landscape management.

We commit ourselves to have a net positive impact on biodiversity in the cooperative. For instance with more herb rich grasslands, a soil full of life, more insects and birds and by using cow feed with zero impact on deforestation.

Biodiversity Monitor

We have developed a biodiversity monitor together with WWF-NL and Rabobank so we make biodiversity measurable and can act on it. FrieslandCampina currently leads the way in the industry for its measurable biodiversity approach. It can also work as a foundation for common base remuneration schemes for third parties.

Curious how our farmers improve biodiversity on the land?

The greater the biodiversity, the greater nature's resilience and ability to recover. And nature is the driving force behind every dairy farm.

Foqus planet

Foqus planet our quality and sustainability programme, through which we ensure quality throughout the entire chain. Within the programme there are requirements for biodiversity on the farm. We reward member farmers for their efforts to improve biodiversity with our Foqus planet bonus, thanks to our Biodiversity Monitor.
