Responsible working

Working safely and responsibly

Working safely

We are an employer for everyone. Every human being has the right to a pleasant and safe working environment, regardless of their personal beliefs, preferences and characteristics. We are committed to safety for everyone, through rules, procedures and awareness campaigns.

Every working environment presents a risk of industrial accidents, but every accident is one too many. We want our employees to return home safe every day. That includes the employees in our offices as well as those in our production facilities. To make this possible, we heavily emphasise awareness and prevention.

We strive for zero accidents

Using safety managers and e-learning courses, among other things, our goal is to reduce the number of accidents to zero. Each facility has a scoreboard with the number of accident-free days at that facility. In recent years, multiple production facilities have celebrated a thousand or even two thousand days with no accidents that resulted in absenteeism.

Erik-Jan ten Hooven

"Working safely is a mindset, a lifestyle."

Code of good conduct

We have had a code of good business conduct called Compass. Compass describes the core values, principles and guidelines in areas such as security, communication, (financial) integrity, fraud prevention and human rights. Our employees follow mandatory training courses and e-learning courses on these topics. This way, everyone knows what is expected of them.

According to the culture at our location, everyone is a safety manager.

Campaign against unprofessional conduct

We ensure more than just physical safety. Employees must also feel that they can be themselves. We expect them to be able to address every form of discrimination, intimidation or unprofessional conduct. The Speak Up campaign encourages employees to report such incidents in the workplace, either by telephone or using an online contact point. Reports are treated confidentially and reporters' identity will be protected if they wish. Thanks to the campaign, the number of reports has increased by 14%.

Improving health and vitality

Our Boost (Boest) vitality programme reflects our commitment to improving the health and vitality of our employees. The programme consists of a health check and various workshops on sleep, work pressure, stress, diet and exercise. It was introduced in the Netherlands in 2014 and has reached thousands of employees since then.
