Inspire people to live healthy lives
FrieslandCampina wants to contribute to a better society. We want to do more than just produce good nutrition. We do this by sharing knowledge about what makes a healthy lifestyle. In cooperation with government authorities, universities and NGOs, we have created programmes and campaigns to teach people all there is to know about food, health and exercise.
Using our education programmes, we inspire people all over the world to make well-informed choices in an accessible way. Our programmes are based on national dietary and lifestyle guidelines and are partly developed in collaboration with knowledge partners. We are partners in several education programmes for consumers, employees and health professionals.
Tackling malnutrition in the Philippines
In the Philippines, 20% of children are categorised as “malnourished and neglected”. Our Alaska Milk Corporation brand has been working with local authorities for years to ensure that children who have been diagnosed with malnutrition receive important nutrients through milk every school day. Our colleagues at Alaska Milk Corporation consistently donate part of their salaries to make this possible.
Awareness about exercise in Southeast Asia
Our Drink.Move.BeStrong programme raises awareness among parents and teachers in Southeast Asia about the importance of exercise. We run the programme in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, and in 2016 won the Gold Standard Award for Regional Corporate Citizenship. To achieve maximum impact, we have entered into a partnership with the Junior National Basketball Association. We also run the Gerakan Nusantara educational programme, which provides 600 schools in Indonesia with teaching packs on healthy food and exercise each year.
Dairy for food banks
We deliver some 30,000 kg of dairy products to food banks in the Netherlands every week. Specifically, we give them the yoghurt drinks Optimel, Vifit and Yoki, which are produced at our facility in Maasdam. This provides people who live below the poverty line access to healthy dairy products and a balanced diet. At the same time, it is a way for us to combat food waste.
FrieslandCampina Institute
FrieslandCampina Institute shares knowledge and expertise on dairy with nutrition and health professionals, with the aim of better nutrition for all.
Chinese orphans
Impoverished areas in China are home to large numbers of orphans. In response to a request from the Chinese government, we opened an SOS Children's Village for orphans in Chengdu in 2019. In addition to a new family, the children also receive access to education and medical care.
