Sino-Dutch Dairy Development Centre celebrates 5th anniversary

On 12th December 2018, the Sino-Dutch Dairy Development Centre (SDDDC) celebrated its 5th year anniversary in Beijing, China.

The SDDDC was set up in November 2013 by FrieslandCampina, Wageningen University and Research and the China Agricultural University to support the Chinese dairy sector to boost dairy safety and quality in a sustainable way. Over the past years 9 other Dutch and Chinese dairy partners have joined the network including Rabobank and Yili. Together the partners have a.o. trained >700 Chinese dairy specialists, published 20 papers, started 35 research projects and welcomed >300 Chinese decision makers to the Netherlands for study tours. For FrieslandCampina SDDDC’s activities have resulted in improved relations with important stakeholders such as the Chinese government.

The 5-year celebrations were attended by more than 140 decision makers from the Chinese dairy industry. Rahul Colaco, President of FrieslandCampina China and chairman of the SDDDC Supervisory Board,  gave an inspiring opening speech in which he elaborated on the achievements of SDDDC in the past 5 years and shared his vision of the future of SDDDC and especially the Chinese dairy industry. Other speakers included the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, H.E. Mr Ed Kronenburg, who pointed out that SDDDC is a great example of how Dutch agricultural expertise can help improve the lives of millions of Chinese consumers.
