Milk collection in Northern provinces of the Netherlands suspended due to large scale glaze ice

6 January 2016

During the night of 5-6 January the transporters, who collect the milk for FrieslandCampina, were forced to suspend the milk collection from dairy farms due to large scale glaze ice in the provinces of Friesland, Groningen and Drenthe. As a result the milk from about 450 FrieslandCampina member-farmers in the mentioned provinces could not be collected. The farmers involved, have been informed.

The dairy farmers where the milk could not be collected according to the milk collecting schedule, have been requested to empty their milk tank in the manure pit before milking time this morning. UPDATE: The milk is being collected in the three mentioned provinces normally during the course of the morning.

As soon as circumstances permit, milk collection will be resumed. In the Northern parts of the provinces of Noord-Holland, Flevoland and Overijssel, the milk is collected according to the regular milk collection schedule as much as possible. In the other parts of the Netherlands, milk collection will be done according to the normal schedule. The Board of the Cooperative and the Member’s Council will discuss reimbursing of the milk that has not been collected.
