In its regular meeting on Wednesday, 10 June 2015 the Member Council of Zuivelcoöperatie FrieslandCampina U.A. agreed to amend the member acceptance policy as proposed by the Board. The joining fee for new members of the dairy cooperative has been increased from 10 euros to 15 euros per 100 kilograms of the expected annual milk supply by a new member. In addition, new members will from now on have to meet sustainability requirements.
The member acceptance policy guarantees the continuity of Zuivelcoöperatie FrieslandCampina U.A. and protects the financial interests and sustainability performance of incumbent members. For this reason, sustainability requirements are imposed upon new members. They are, for instance, required to apply outdoor grazing. Other sustainability requirements set by FrieslandCampina are land-based farming and open livestock barns. The joining fee has been increased in order to achieve a balance between the capital contributions by incumbent and new members.
The member acceptance policy is adopted by the Board and approved by the Member Council. The new member acceptance policy will be in effect from 10 June 2015 to 31 December 2016.
