10 June 2015

Former CEO of Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. Cees ’t Hart has been made an Officer in the Order of Oranje-Nassau. He was presented with this royal honour by Mr C.G.A. Cornielje, the King’s Commissioner in the Province of Gelderland, at the farewell reception marking his retirement from the Member Council of FrieslandCampina in Papendal. Cees ‘t Hart received the honour in recognition of his great merits for the Dutch dairy and agricultural sectors.

Cees ’t Hart, who lives in Wassenaar, became the CEO of Royal FrieslandCampina N.V. on 1 January 2009. This followed his appointment, as of 1 May 2008, as Chairman of the Board of Management of Royal Friesland Foods N.V., which merged with Campina B.V. at the end of December 2008. Cees ’t Hart led the successful integration of the two dairy companies and cooperatives and laid the foundations for the development of the company’sroute2020 strategy. Sustainability is one of the cornerstones of this strategy, which focuses on bringing about sustainable growth throughout the chain, from cow to consumer.

The company currently exports to more than 100 countries around the world. In 2014, FrieslandCampina’s revenue of 11.3 billion euros included 4.5 billion euros from exports. Asia is continuing to grow in importance, largely due to the increase in exports to Hong Kong and China. Starting in 2009, FrieslandCampina invested almost 2.5 billion euros in expanding capacity and improving quality, in connection with the abolition of the EU milk quota system for dairy farmers in April 2015. Over 70% of the expenditures were made in the Netherlands. These expenditures contributed significantly to the economic development, both national and regional.
