FrieslandCampina is main sponsor of the DiabeatitRun which is due to be held on 11 October. During this second edition of the relay run, which raises money for the Dutch Diabetes Fund, participants will race up the 589 steps of the Euromast before embarking on a double marathon through Rotterdam, across the green belt in the centre of the Netherlands and on to the finish line at the Olympic Stadium in Amsterdam.
The money raised by the DiaBeatitRun will go to the Diabetes Fund, which helps pay for medical research to find a cure for diabetes. Each runner has to raise at least 500 euros in order to take part. Companies and other organisations also make contributions.
Helping the Diabetes Fund to achieve its goals is a logical choice for FrieslandCampina. ‘A healthy diet and exercise are two ways to protect the body against diabetes. Everyone has a right to a healthy life, which is why FrieslandCampina is working with the Diabetes Fund to bring that goal a little closer,’ says FrieslandCampina Institute Director Frank van Ooijen.
