The Golden Cheese Scoop 2013 was won by Tessa van Ruremonde, working as Process Developer at FrieslandCampina Cheese in Wageningen. With 234 points Tessa was the best of the 425 participants in de 54th edition of the Dutch National Cheese Inspection Contest. With this she is the first female winner who may call herself the best cheese connoisseur in the Netherlands. The chain with the Golden Cheese Scoop was hung around Tessa’s neck by Piet Hilarides, Chief Operating Officer FrieslandCampina Cheese, Butter & Milkpowder.
The Dutch National Cheese Inspection Contest (NNKC) is one of the largest professional contests in the Netherlands, which decides who is the best cheese connoisseur in the Netherlands. The participants must describe the type, age, odour, taste and the quality of ten scooped-out pieces of cheese.
The Golden Cheese Scoop and the golden, silver and bronze medals were presented to the winners during the festive prize-giving ceremony on Thursday 10 October 2013 in the Gooiland Theatre in Hilversum.
Apart from the Golden Cheese Scoop of Tessa, there were the following prizes for FrieslandCampina Cheese and Zijverveld employees: a silver medal in the category Industry for Eelco Meindertsma (Gerkesklooster location), a bronze medal in the same category for Danny Stultiens (Steenderen location) and two bronze medals in the category Trade for Jolanda Malipaard and Meine Haringsma, both working at Zijerveld.
