Two FrieslandCampina production plants to switch to wind power

25 March 2013

As part of its strategy to meet its energy targets, FrieslandCampina has adopted the Van Gogh wind farm at Etten-Leur. The wind farm, which was funded by three member dairy farmers and a team of investors, consists of five wind turbines with a total capacity of 11.5 MW (5x 2.3 MW). The energy generated will be enough to power FrieslandCampina’s production plants at Maasdam and Eindhoven.

FrieslandCampina is growing, and doing so in a climate-neutral way. As well as consuming energy more efficiently, the company is also working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The aim is to reduce emissions by 30% compared with 1990. FrieslandCampina already draws 40% of its electricity requirements in the Netherlands from the green power produced by its own member dairy farmers.
