The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences has announced that Emmo Meijer, Corporate Director of Research & Development at FrieslandCampina, has been awarded the 2012 Academy medal. The Academy medal is awarded every two years to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of science in the Netherlands.
Professor Emmo Meijer has been awarded the prize because of his strong support for Dutch science throughout his career. Emmo Meijer has held various research and business positions in his career, including at DSM and Unilever. He joined our company in April 2011. He is also a part-time professor at Eindhoven University of Technology. Until the end of 2011, he was chairman of the Netherlands Academy of Technology and Innovation.
CEO, Cees ’t Hart said that he was delighted to learn that this important academic prize had been awarded to Emmo Meijer. ‘The Academy medal is a prestigious award. We would like to congratulate Emmo on this honour.’
The Academy medal will be presented on 5 June.
