Dairy export: the Netherlands is a mega-exporter

The Netherlands is an important exporter of dairy products. The diary export is still growing, in particular to emerging markets such as China and Africa. With an export value of 5.1 billion euro in 2015 (2014: 4.5 billion), FrieslandCampina represents a considerable share of this.

Dairy export contribution to the economy

The dairy sector makes a substantial contribution to the Dutch economy. For instance, with its annual turnover of 11.3 billion euro (2015), FrieslandCampina is among the largest dairy companies in the world. The company has a cooperative tradition of over 140 years. FrieslandCampina is owned by the more than 19,000 member dairy farmers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. These are all independent entrepreneurs.

Over a hundred countries

FrieslandCampina does not only deliver milk, but also consumer products, such as dairy beverages, infant nutrition, cheese and desserts, in over a hundred countries in Europe, Asia and Africa. The company has locations in 32 countries with more than 22,000 employees. Its head office is in Amersfoort, the Netherlands.
