Environment in Indonesia

FrieslandCampina Indonesia has been recognised by the Indonesian government for its environmental efforts. Two production companies in the Jakarta region were assessed on their performances in the areas of waste management, reducing and managing the emission of harmful substances, water treatment, reducing energy consumption, the storage of harmful substances and maintaining a non-smoking policy.

The plant managers and employees of the companies in Ciracas and Pasar Rebo (in the Jakarta region) are constantly striving to reduce their environmental impact. "Environmental protection is an integral part of our business processes. We do this because we believe we bear a responsibility, not only to produce the best possible dairy products, but also for our future," according to the plant managers.

The Indonesian government has robust environmental legislation in place. It encourages companies to comply with the legislation and, where possible, to set the bar higher. Companies that meet all standards are eligible for recognition.
