New nozzle gives fine whipped cream peaks and convenience

A firm peak of whipped cream with attractive deep whirls. That is achieved with the spray nozzle for cream aerosols launched in the consumer market by FrieslandCampina for the consumer market in 2010. FrieslandCampina first introduced this innovation in the professional market in 2007.

The new nozzle was developed by FrieslandCampina Professional. Market surveys showed that restaurant owners and other professional users were not always satisfied with whipped cream from aerosol cans. They often still preferred the familiar conventional nozzles with a gas bottle in their search for the perfect whipped cream peak. This does call for extra skill and time, because the nozzle has to be cleaned properly.

FrieslandCampina took on the challenge. The cream did not have to be changed: what mattered was the spray nozzle. The whipped cream peaks had to have the same quality image as those from conventional nozzles, but offer the convenience of an aerosol can. The advantages of whipped cream in spray cans are clear:

  • Always ready to use
  • Hygienic
  • Always the same quality
  • Anyone can use the spray cans.

With the new spray nozzle, FrieslandCampina Professional not only guarantees the best quality whipped cream, but also peaks with the same quality image as those produced with conventional nozzles.

Growth
The tulip-shaped nozzle was introduced for the professional market in 2007 and since then has made a substantial contribution to better sales figures for the professional brands Hollandia and Debic. The discovery was made by a project group working specifically on innovation. Co-operation with external parties (including a design agency) and internal departments (such as Marketing and Production) was needed to develop the spray nozzle.

After the professional market, FrieslandCampina Professional has now turned to the consumer market. With a few minor changes, the nozzle on consumer aerosol cans of whipped cream is the same as that for the cans for the professional market. The spray nozzle is easy to use and simple to rinse clean. The new spray nozzle is sold under the Campina brand in the Netherlands and under the Chantibic brand in Belgium.
