The districts of the FrieslandCampina co-operative

Our co-operative’s sphere of operations comprises 21 districts. Each of our member dairy farms belongs to one of these districts. The direct contact with members as well as their active involvement is a central focus in the district.

The basis for the member farmer’s control over the company is also laid in the districts. The members of each district elect ten District Council members for their own district.

The District Council forms the bridge between the members and the co-operative. The tasks of the council include communicating, explaining and advocating the policy and the other co-operative affairs. This takes place at member meetings, for instance, which are held at least twice a year. The District Council is also responsible for a number of co-operative activities in the region.
