Co-operative structure
Dairy farmers in the Netherlands, Germany and Belgium are members of Zuivelcoöperatie FrieslandCampina. This co-operative is 100 percent owner of the FrieslandCampina company, which is responsible for the milk processing, product manufacturing and sales. Worldwide. Our member dairy farmers are thus joint owners of the FrieslandCampina company via the co-operative.
As a company we can only be successful if we are of value to our customers and consumers. This offers our member dairy farmers opportunities to sell the milk they produce on their farms. The financial result of our activities benefits our dairy farmers. We continually strive to ensure that our member farmers receive a milk price that is trend-setting in the North-West of Europe.
As members of our co-operative, the member dairy farmers provide the equity for our company. The ultimate control over the company therefore rests with them.
Our member dairy farmers thus supply the milk, provide equity, exercise control and reap the benefits of these efforts. They are partners in business.
This is also reflected in the way we have organised the control of the members and the link between co-operative and company.
