Concentrated milk

Concentrated or condensed milk is made by removing water from milk under high pressures and temperatures. The result is a thick substance that can be kept outside the fridge for years in unopened packs. This milk is not only drunk as a beverage but can, for example, also be used to spread on bread or in cooking. 
 
Concentrated milk is available in two varieties:

  • Evaporated milk, during the evaporation process the volume of milk is reduced by (more than) half. Evaporating is done by heating the milk under high pressure which removes water from the milk; 
  • Sweet, condensed milk. This is evaporated milk to which we have added sugar.

We make concentrated milk with different fat percentages.
